Attorney Profiles

David J. Irvine, Jr.
Although I was born in North Carolina, I spent most of my formative years in Delmar, New York, a small town approximately fifteen miles from Albany. I graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in 1980. After graduating from high school, I returned to the Tarheel State to attend The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, double majoring in English and Radio, Television and Motion Pictures. After a year of working in Chapel Hill, my wife, Stephanie, and I began Wake Forest University School of Law in 1985. We received our law degrees in 1988. While at Wake Forest, I was a teacher assistant for one of the legal research and writing classes. I also worked as a research assistant for Professor David Logan.
After passing the North Carolina Bar Exam in July of 1988, I began working with the Windsor, North Carolina firm, Pritchett, Cooke & Burch. I passed the Virginia Bar Exam in early 1989. I became a partner with Pritchett, Cooke & Burch in 1992. On July 1st, 1999, Stephanie and I opened Irvine Law Firm, PC in Williamston, North Carolina. We have added partners over the years and are now Irvine Law Firm, PLLC.
I currently focus my practice on the areas of Family Law, Construction Law, Collections, Personal Injury, Mediation and Arbitration. I became certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission as a Superior Court Mediator in 2000. I became certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission as a Family Financial Mediator in 2007.
I served for five years as Chairman of Williamston Downtown, Inc., a non-profit corporation focusing on downtown revitalization. I served for two years on the Board of Directors for Historic Hope Foundation, Inc. and I was appointed by Governor Easley to serve on the Martin Community College Board of Trustees from 2006 to 2010.
I have been involved in music since my childhood. I have played in musical groups of various descriptions over many years. I recorded my first commercially released album, consisting of all original music, in 2004. It was my great pleasure to have my wife as my drummer on several of those songs. In addition to our musical interests, Stephanie and I enjoy learning from our two children and our dogs, all of whom are wise beyond their years. I also enjoy reading, traveling, cooking, and relaxing in the beautiful mountains of western Carolina.
